Genshin Impact Crit Value Calculator
Genshin Impact numbers, not guesses. The character event banner runs a 0.6% base rate with soft pity from pull 74 and a hard ceiling at 90. Everything below is calculated from that model.

Scoring Genshin Impact artifacts with crit value
Crit value is CV = 2 × crit rate + crit damage, which normalises the two stats onto one scale because crit rate is worth roughly twice as much as crit damage per point. Subtract the character's own base stats first, otherwise every build looks good.
On a 5★ artifact, a single crit roll is about 3.3% crit rate or 6.6% crit damage — about 6.6 CV either way, which is why CV per artifact is a fair comparison across slots.
Typical bands
Genshin Impact: what a CV score means
| CV (artifact only) | Read as | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 40+ | Excellent | Usually a keeper regardless of set |
| 30–40 | Good | Worth upgrading if main stat fits |
| 20–30 | Average | Filler until something better |
| Under 20 | Weak | Only for set bonuses |
Where CV stops being useful
CV ignores energy recharge, elemental mastery, attack% and set bonuses. A 40 CV piece with the wrong main stat is worse than a 25 CV piece that completes a 4-piece set. Use CV to filter, not to decide.
FAQ
What is a good crit value?
Above 40 CV on a single artifact is excellent; 30–40 is good. Always subtract the character's base stats first.
Why is crit rate worth double?
Because 1% crit rate and 2% crit damage contribute the same expected damage, so CV weights rate by two.
Is CV everything?
No. It ignores energy recharge, elemental mastery, attack% and set bonuses — use it to filter candidates, not to pick the final build.
